I cannot get past the idea of him as some sweet little product of the American dream, with a smothering, doting mother who talks in a Brooklyn JAP accent and a father who, like, smokes a pipe in his slippers and has a big walrus mustache. "He was such a good boy!" They would lament. "How did it go so wrong?"

And, of course, baseball.
